New Community Bible 5.0.3

The New Community Bible represents a significant revision of the previously acclaimed Christian Community Bible, originally translated by the late Bernardo Hurault. This latest edition is a collaborative effort involving SAINT PAUL PUBLICATIONS, DIVINE WORD PUBLICATIONS, and CLARETIAN PUBLICATIONS from the Philippines.

The impetus for a new edition arose in the 1980s, driven by the recognition of a growing multicultural and multi-religious society. In 1990, a collective of biblical scholars assembled, led by the SOCIETY OF ST PAUL (ST PAULS), to undertake the task of revising and adapting the Christian Community Bible to contemporary needs. A notable feature of the original text was its commentary integrated throughout, which acknowledged the diverse cultural and religious heritage of communities worldwide. The scholars determined that any comprehensive commentary on Sacred Text must incorporate Biblical values from various world religions, necessitating a complete rewriting of the existing commentary. Furthermore, careful revisions of the biblical text were required in certain passages.

Despite enthusiasm for the project, various challenges emerged that delayed its completion. Ultimately, after nearly fifteen years of dedicated effort, The New Community Bible (NCB) is now available for a global readership. It is worth noting that many esteemed biblical scholars have contributed, both directly and indirectly, to the development of this new edition and its accompanying NCB App.
